There are a number of Aleve side effects. Some are serious, others are not. Knowing what to expect in this regard will provide individuals with the information that they need to determine whether or not they should be worried if they begin to experience discomfort or certain symptoms. Knowing when contacting a health professional is necessary could possibly help save a person’s life. Below, we will take a look at several Aleve side effects. Some are common and may be experienced by a relatively high number of users. Others are more severe and generally do not affect as many people. Let’s discuss the common Aleve side effects first.

Common side effects include gas, nasal stuffiness, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, drowsiness, constipation, diarrhea and heart burn.  These generally can be tolerated and do not signal that there is a problem or require treatment.

More serious side effects can occur and do, though they typically affect individuals less often. These will require the immediate attention of a medical professional, such as a doctor. It may even be necessary to visit the emergency room. Severe Aleve side effects include allergic reactions that may show up as chest tightness, hives, rash and difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue or lips. Fever, chills, scant or dark urine, sore throat, severe stomach pain, weakness on one side of the body, irregular or fast heartbeat, confusion, black stools may also occur. Bruising, bleeding, vision changes, yellowing of the skin and/or eyes, vomiting what looks like coffee grounds and inflammation of the extremities (feet, hands, legs), are other severe Aleve side effects that will require treatment.
