The morning-after pill is a form of birth control that is used after a woman has had an unprotected sexual encounter that may have resulted in a pregnancy. If taken within three days of that encounter, a woman can prevent the fertilization of her egg(s).
Common morning-after pill side effects include tiredness, headache, tenderness of the breast, dizziness and stomach pain. There is also the possibility of her having an ectopic pregnancy if the morning-after pill does not work. Some individuals will feel nauseous. Vomiting may also occur. A woman may also experience irregular bleeding which may affect their next menstrual period. There is the possibility that it may come earlier than normal or perhaps be late. Some women will even have their periods about a week after the have the morning-after pill.

It is important that women that experience morning-after-pill side effects for longer then what is considered normal, contact their doctor. Certain side effects may be symptoms of very serious and potentially dangerous conditions such as ectopic pregnancy.
