Effexor Side Effects

Most people understand that many of the medications they take will have side effects. While some might be pleasant (some will have calming and relaxing effects), most are not. Many are uncomfortable and a few even downright dangerous. Effexor side effects fit into two primary categories, normal and serious. Individuals will not have to worry about the normal ones. The serious side effects, however, will require that the individual call a doctor immediately. Let’s take a look at the normal Effexor side effects first.

Common Effexor side effects include sweating, constipation, anxiety, dry mouth, lowered sexual desire, nausea, insomnia, weight loss, weakness, headache, upset stomach and drowsiness.

Serious side effects might include panic attacks, rashes, chest tightness, fever, fainting, chills, agitation, aggressiveness, ringing in the ears, blisters and peeling of the skin, irregular heartbeat, strange behavior, bloody stools, confusion, sore throat, problems with memory, hostility, hallucinations, restlessness, weakness, tremors, depression, headache, loss of coordination and suicidal thoughts and mood changes. This is not an exhaustive list of possible serious side effects. It is important that you speak with your physician and carefully review the instructions that come with your medication to be sure that you understand all of the potential side effects.

Again, the importance of knowing the potential side effects of any medication is extremely important and can not be understated. Knowing what to expect and when one’s health is at risk, is only possible when a person knows the potential side effects of any medications they are taking. Not understanding the possible side effects can cause major problems and negatively affect a person’s health.
